We thank you for supporting our work with the refugee population. The Congolese Development Center launched an end of year
giving campaign with a goal of raising $8,000.00.
The Congolese Development Center serves newcomers from diverse cultural backgrounds from many parts of the world. CDC provide
basic resources, services, information and skills needed to ease the transition and facilitate the integration into the new life
in the United States. Strengthen the Congolese community by promoting mutual assistance, increasing their capacity to serve their
local communities. Please consider making a gift to help us meet our goal so we can continue our critical work in 2019.
2018 Outcomes: Congolese Development Center made substantial strides in 2018 in several key areas:
100 students in Lynn and Lowell Public Schools were served. Staffs at the Congolese Development center had 100 contacts with
refugee students, and 70 % of these contacts also involved the parents of the students and school officials. The top concerns
addressed were school integration and academic performance, challenging behavior, preparing for higher education, and mental health and trauma.
Social: 80 Lynn and Lowell residents were educated about citizenship.
The Congolese Development Center work in conjunction with Community Health Centers, and Community Partners reached out to those
who were due for medical care and helped to guide them through the health care system and overcome barriers to accessing medical
services. 50 newly arrived refugees were assisted in completing their Refugee Health Assessment appointments at Lynn Community
Health Center, and Lowell Community health Center. 70 Lynn and Lowell residents were educated about potential dangers of smoking and drinking, . 20 refugee members were involved in community gardening

At the national level, it will strive to increase the awareness of refugees and immigrants on African issues. The CDC will bring an African perspective to issues that affect African refugees here and in Africa.
The CDC Inc works with both the private and public sectors, networking with other NGOs, universities, the United Nations, and various African governments.
